March 28, 2022

The Viscardi Center, a network of non-profit organizations providing programs and services that educate, employ, and empower children and adults with disabilities, is holding its 55th annual Celebrity Sports Night live and in person on Thursday, May 19. The honorees at this year’s event are Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, and John McEnroe, Tennis Hall of Famer. Native Long Islander Steve Serio, Co-Captain of the Paralympic Gold Medal USA Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team, will also be recognized.

Celebrity Sports Night includes a cocktail reception in an outdoor tent where guests can interact with sports legends and celebrities, such as former New York Giant Harry Carson and ESPN’s Victoria Arlen; an elegant, multi-course dinner; and exciting silent and live auctions containing a collection of distinctive items and packages. The 2022 event will also introduce two new elements — an afterparty headlined by the Johnny Smyth Band with John McEnroe, and an energetic wheelchair basketball exhibition game featuring Viscardi student players.

Now in its 55th year, Celebrity Sports Night continues to be one of the leading fundraising events in the New York Metropolitan area. Each year, hundreds of local businesses, philanthropists, community leaders, celebrities, and professional athletes come together to help raise funds and awareness for vital programs and services that enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
