The Kornreich Technology Center at The Viscardi Center is hosting a Vision Awareness Day on May 28, 2013 at its headquarters at 201 I.U. Willets Road, Albertson.  The goal of this all day, free event is to introduce the community to Freedom Scientific and Vis-Abilities’ products which assist the blind and low vision populations. The attendees will learn why and how to use the various product items offered. Program participants will discover different solutions available to help them regain their independence to lead more fulfilling lives. Presentations will also include physicians from North Shore-LIJ Health System and staff from the Kornreich Technology Center. The seminar should be of interest to those individuals with vision loss and their parents and family members, occupational therapists, instructors and trainers, aging individuals and senior center staff as well as vision support groups. A special invitation to attend is extended to all AARP members.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. and includes learning sessions, lunch and hands-on demonstrations. All participants are entered to win one of two valuable door prizes:  a RUBY® Handheld Video Magnifier or a MAGic® Screen Magnification Software & Large Print Keyboard, both valued at over $500.
