Viscardi welcomes Catherine Castagna, Dan Bastian, and Nicole Marino to its Boards of Directors.
The Viscardi Center — a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, employing, and empowering people with disabilities — has announced the appointment of three new members to its Boards of Directors. Each appointee demonstrates a strong commitment to community leadership and the advancement of opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
- Catherine Castagna, President of Castagna Realty Company, joins The Viscardi Center’s organization-wide Board of Directors.
- Dan Bastian, CP, Co-Founder of Progressive O&P, joins the Abilities, Inc. at The Viscardi Center Board, which oversees all employment-related programs and services within the organization.
- Nicole Marino, a Manhasset-based periodontist, joins the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center Board of Trustees, which serves the Henry Viscardi School for students with severe physical disabilities.
About the Appointees:
Dan Bastian, CP of Massapequa, New York is a co-founder of Progressive O&P, a successful clinical practice providing compassionate care for adults, children, and veterans needing prosthetic and orthotic solutions. He is also a member of the Amputee Coalition of America, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, the National Amputee Golf Association, the Disabled Sports Association, and a board member of the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP).
Catherine Castagna of Southport, Connecticut is the President of Castagna Realty Company, a 96-year-old company specializing in the development and management of premier properties on Long Island, including its flagship operation, Americana Manhasset. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Frank and Rita Castagna Foundation, where she carries out her family’s vision of philanthropy by supporting charitable organizations focused on cultural, health, educational, community, and other worthy causes. In keeping with the Castagna Family and Castagna Realty Company’s commitment to the community, Americana Manhasset holds its annual holiday shopping benefit, Champions for Charity®, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2020. Catherine previously served on the committee at North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center and was honored by Hospice Care of Long Island.
Nicole Marino of Manhasset, New York is committed to the field of periodontology, dental education, and accessible care for all patients as a practicing Periodontist. Dr. Marino is also an active member of The American Dental Association, The New York State Dental Association, The Nassau County Dental Society, The American Academy of Periodontology, and the North Shore Study Club. For the past seven years, she has been an enthusiastic volunteer for “Give Kids A Smile Day,” a program sponsored by the Nassau County Dental Society. She performs oral exams, administers fluoride treatments, and gives oral hygiene instruction to underserved children. This year, she participated in The Viscardi Center’s first education and screening event, “Take A Dental Health Day,” for students with disabilities.
