The Viscardi Center announced Michael N. Vittorio, the President and CEO of The First National Bank of Long Island, will be honored at its annual Celebrity Sports Night, event on May 16, 2013, which raises funds to support its programs and services that educate, employ and empower children and adults with disabilities. The event is attended by over 800 members of the corporate world, community leaders, philanthropic individuals, celebrities and athletes, and takes place on The Viscardi Center campus in Albertson, New York.
“As a local business leader, Mike plays an active role every day in making Long Island a better place to live and work,” said John D. Kemp, President and CEO, at The Viscardi Center. “It is only fitting to recognize him for the positive impact he has had, and will continue to have, on the residents and business owners of our communities.”
“I am delighted to be serving as the Honoree of The Viscardi Center’s 47th Annual Celebrity Sports Night,” said Michael N. Vittorio, President and CEO, of The First National Bank of Long Island. “It is The First National Bank of Long Island’s privilege to partner with the Center to further the cause of people with disabilities and I look forward to a wonderful and successful event.” The First National Bank of Long Island, established in 1927, is Long Island’s largest independent commercial bank headquartered on Long Island and has 36 branches in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and Manhattan.
This year’s Celebrity Sports Night is being chaired by Bo Dietl, a former New York City Police Department detective and media personality. During the event’s cocktail reception, guests are provided with an opportunity to collect autographs and speak with the celebrity and athlete attendees. A sports memorabilia silent auction also takes place during the reception. During the dinner, there is an original performance by students of the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center and a live auction of often “priceless” experiences such as dinner aboard golfer, Jack Nicklaus’ yacht.
Past participants at this memorable evening include Joe Namath, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, Jim Brown, Joe Frazier, Keith Hernandez, Boomer Esiason, Willie Mays, Walt Frazier, Lou Pinella, Darryl Strawberry, and other sports legends.
