“Take a Dental Health Day – Screening & Education for the Disability Community”, October 26, 2018

Dr. William Calnon, President of the American Dental Association Foundation and Dr. Barbara Shearer, Director of Scientific Affairs, Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals, offered their support at the first ever "Take a Dental Health Day: Screening and Education for the Disability Community" a Project Accessible Oral Health initiative. Event sponsors of the event included Colgate, Henry Schein Cares, Henry Schein Cares Foundation, the Claire Friedlander Family Foundation, America's Tooth Fairy - the National Children's Oral Health Foundation and DMG America.

More than 200 children, teens and adults with disabilities were educated about the importance of oral healthcare and its impact on overall health.

This first-ever event, which took place at The Viscardi Center in Albertson, New York on Friday, October 26, focused on raising awareness of the number one unmet health need for 57 million people with disabilities in America - access to culturally competent oral healthcare.
Dr. Douglas Schildhaus undergoes a "screening" from Henry Viscardi School student Victoria at Project Accessible Oral Health's "Take a Dental Health Day: Screening and Education for the Disability Community" inaugural event, where more than 75 dentists, dental students, dental residents and volunteers were able to screen and educate more than 200 children, adolescents and adults with disabilities. The event took place on Friday, October 26 at The Viscardi Center's Albertson, New York campus.
