NBDC to Host Webinar on New OFCCP Regulations

The National Business & Disability Council at
The Viscardi Center (NBDC) will host a webinar to deliver critical business insights on the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations requiring federal contractors and subcontractors to make at least seven percent of their workforce people with disabilities.  The webinar, titled “OFCCP: Moving Beyond the Basics and Building a Smarter Workforce for the 21st Century,” will take place on Monday,
February 24, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. EST.

The OFCCP Section 503 Rule Change was announced last summer and goes into effect on March 24, 2014. These new regulations detail specific actions contractors must take in the areas of recruitment, training, record keeping and policy dissemination – similar to those that have long been required to promote workplace equality for women and minorities.

“The purpose of this webinar is to ensure that companies fully understand the new OFCCP regulations and know that we are here as a resource to help them comply with the new hiring regulations,” said Laura M. Francis, Executive Director, National Business & Disability Council at The Viscardi Center.  “We can also guide companies on the best employment recruiting practices as well as post open job positions within their companies through our Job Posting Service.”

During the webinar NBDC will:
1)    Assist participants to look beyond the OFCCP ruling and clarify a greater awareness and understanding of
how to initiate a more effective self identifying protocol for people with disabilities;
2)    Explore how the OFCCP can be a valuable business strategy;
3)    Offer tools that focus on organizational stress management as it relates to the regulation change.

The webinar will be hosted by Professor Jonathan Kaufman. Born with cerebral palsy, Kaufman’s disability has been a profound part of his personal, academic and professional life. Today, Kaufman is regarded  as  a most innovative thinker in the diversity and disability arena. As a dynamic professional speaker, consultant, anthropologist, clinician, entrepreneur, scholar and policy architect, Kaufman’s unique background has allowed him the ability to work in a variety of capacities with corporations, governments and non for profits around the globe.

The webinar is free for NBDC Gold Members and above, $50 for NBDC Basic Members and $99 for NBDC Affiliate Members. Non-members may also register for the webinar for $199. For more information or to register, contact Brandon Macsata at bmascata@viscardicenter.org or visit nbdc.com.
