NBDC Brings U.S. Department of Labor Asst. Secretary to New York Life
The National Business & Disability Council (NBDC) at The Viscardi Center is partnering with New York Life Insurance Company to present an employer event featuring an extraordinary leader in the Global Disability Community, Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor, Kathleen Martinez.

Global Viscardi Awards Presented at U.N. to Two of Nine Recipients
Henry Viscardi Achievement Awards were presented to two recipients at the UN. The global Awards recognize people with disabilities for their work with the disability community. Rosangela Berman Bieler, UNICEF, and Michael Ashley Stein, Harvard Law School Project on Disability, received the Awards.

NBDC & Georgetown to Hold Conference in November on Employment of People with Disabilities
The Viscardi Center will honor two leaders in the international civil rights movement, Rosangela Berman Bieler, senior advisor on children with disabilities at UNICEF, and Michael Ashley Stein, Ph.D., executive director of the Harvard Law School Project on Disability, with awards on July 19.

National Business & Disability Council (NBDC) at The Viscardi Center and Georgetown University will be recognizing the freedom and independence gained through work for millions of people with disabilities at The 3rd Georgetown University Conference on Employment of People with Disabilities.

A group of 125 job seekers who are enrolled in, or have completed, Abilities, Inc. at The Viscardi Center’s job training and employment placement services participated in the 365/100 Career Fair meeting with representatives from 20+ employers about potential job opportunities and realizing success.

Dr. John B. King, Jr., President of the University of the State of New York and Commission of Education, delivered an eloquent commencement speech to the graduates of Henry Viscardi School and commended their achievements and the strength of the school community.

Henry Viscardi School Athletes Earn 47 Medals at Victory Challenge
Fifty-four students from the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center earned 47 medals at the Nassau County Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged Victory Challenge. The athletes, ages five to 21, competed in basketball and track and field sports.

Team Viscardi Traverses Long Island in Ride to Montauk
Team Viscardi, comprised of nearly 100 bicyclists, participated in the annual Ride to Montauk cycle tour to raise awareness and critical funds for programs and services provided to children and adults with disabilities.
