The two organizations are joining forces to enhance digital accessibility and inclusion measures.
WASHINGTON, D.C. and ALBERTSON, N.Y. —AFB Consulting, the consulting arm of the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB), and The Viscardi Center, a network of nonprofits that educates, employs, and empowers children and adults with disabilities, today announced a partnership that will enhance both organizations’ accessibility and digital inclusion measures.

The partnership brings together AFB Consulting’s more than 15 years of experience in the usability and accessibility space, with The Viscardi Center’s six decades of accessibility technology expertise which includes document remediation services and web accessibility, as well captioning of video files and virtual video conferencing and events. By combining the skill sets of both the AFB and Viscardi teams, organizations will now have access to the comprehensive, trusted resources and solutions they need to ensure their new and legacy digital content on websites is fully accessible to all.

“We are proud to partner with the American Foundation for the Blind and combine Viscardi’s 60 plus years of education, employment and empowerment experience with AFB’s extraordinary services to benefit children and adults with blindness and visual impairments,” said John D. Kemp, President & CEO, The Viscardi Center. “We believe equal access to digital environments and materials is a civil right, as we all rely heavily upon the web and information technology for everything from employment to healthcare and education to purchasing consumer products. To fully participate in all aspects of everyday living, people with disabilities must have the same online experiences as our non-disabled peers.”

“AFB’s partnership with The Viscardi Center is a sterling example of two like-minded organizations combining resources toward a common goal,” said Darren Burton, AFB Consulting Sales Consultant. “This partnership is going to produce improved digital inclusion for our constituencies and support our mission of helping clients and partners advance and exceed their accessibility and disability-inclusion goals.”
